Have you seen scooters standing or laying in the middle of the pavement? From now on, an incorrectly parked scooter can be reported within a few seconds using the Wheelme app, thanks to which the operator will move it to a safe place. Will the problem of two-wheelers that block the pavements eventually disappear?
The electric scooter rental system allows you to park two-wheelers anywhere in the city. There are no special parking lots, racks or zones where they can be safely left. Residents of Warsaw are constantly reporting that in the capital there is scooter chaos when it comes to abandoning the vehicles anywhere – in the middle of a bicycle path, pavement or even on the streets. There is a chance that this problem will eventually disappear.
The Wheelme application is already working in Warsaw, which helps scooter and car operators to move the vehicle to a safe place for minutes. – We decided to introduce this functionality because we are aware of the problem associated with incorrect parking of vehicles. We assume that cooperation in this area will not only help organize the city space, but also significantly improve the comfort of movement for disabled people, parents with prams or the elderly, for whom passing a scooter standing in the middle of the pavement can be a real problem – says Mateusz Młodawski, one of the founders of Wheelme.
How do I report a vehicle that is parked incorrectly?
To report an incorrectly parked vehicle, simply select the address in the application, take a photo and select the reason for the notification. The whole process is based on machine learning technology, which automatically detects if the vehicle is actually visible in the photo. – Upon receipt of the message, Wheelme sends the operator specific information containing the exact location, vehicle number, date and time of notification and the reason. Thanks to this, the company to which the vehicle belongs can quickly react to the incident – the app developers inform.
In some European cities, solutions have been introduced that organize the parking of all vehicles, by designating the appropriate zones to leave the scooters. In Poland, you can still stumble on a scooter or scooter left in the middle of the pavement.
