Coronavirus – how to detect symptoms?
There are 35 people under surveillance in Poland suspected of having the ‘coronavirus’ from China and the sanitary services monitor the condition of about 480 patients – the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday. The coronavirus 2019-nCoV test is already available in Poland.
For the new version of the pathogen that causes respiratory failure, also referred to as the symptoms of an acute pneumonia-like respiratory infection, there is currently no known medicine or vaccine. The method of protection is hand hygiene, wearing a protective mask, avoiding large gatherings, taking care of the body’s resistance, avoiding smoking, as well as places with smoky and dusty environments, because such conditions favor virus infection.
The 2019-nCoV virus is transmitted by droplet. There is a time period of about 2-14 day incubation period when no signs of infection are present. Infection can also be asymptomatic. A coronavirus test can be performed in Warsaw at ul. Chocimska 24, at NIZP-PZH (National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene), tel. (022) 54-21-200 between 8.00-15.35 from Monday to Friday.
According to the Minister of Health, the genetic test lasts about a day, and if the presence of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus is confirmed, the test is repeated and, if necessary, the sample is sent to a foreign laboratory.
