Where does the smog in Warsaw come from? There is a perception that the lion’s share of air pollution is caused by the inhabitants of family homes, who burn rubbish and plastic in their fireplaces, as a result of which black, thick smoke emits from the chimneys. Are the suspicions wrong? The Warsaw City Guards report they are finding less and less offenders.
Residents of Wawer and Białołęka have long complained about their neighbors, who ignored the environment and health of themselves and other tenants. Local residents claim they are poisoning the area with smoke resulting from the burning of garbage. The Warsaw City Guard received a lot of reports, complaints and requests for intervention. The guards rolled up their sleeves and went to work. Throughout the weekend, they conducted an increased inspections in these two districts.
City Guards use a range of technology such as drones with special measuring equipment to review the toxic output levels of a chimney.
As a result of the organized action, the guards were forced to issue only one ticket. In addition, three households have been warned. This result is much lower than was expected.
