As a result of the heating failure in Mokotów, two people were burnt and taken to the hospital – said the Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski. About 200 cars got stuck on the roads due to thick fog, including seven buses. Firefighters helped 100 people.
We received a notification about a heating failure at the address Powsińska 67. The notification was received by us at approx. 9.45. The heat pipe with hot water had been damaged and leaks were discovered. Due to this, large amounts of steam were generated – Capt. Wojciech Kapczyński from the Warsaw fire brigade.
Services quickly arrived, among others fire brigade and police.
Firefighters also received reports about flooded basements and garages.
Several police crews also worked on site, including Warsaw road, whose officers secured intersections. It is blocked, among others ul. Limanowskiego towards Wiertnicza and Powsińska, section of ul. Idzikowskiego, Gołkowska.

Trzaskowski: Veolia will bear the costs of the accident
The possible costs caused by the heating failure as well as the costs of removing its causes rest with Veolia – emphasized the Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski. He also informed about the ordinance of controlling heat supply in nurseries, schools and hospitals near the place of failure.
As he noted, Veolia is a private company and it is responsible for explaining the causes of the accident. He also assured that if the need arises, the city will also take care of the explanation.
