Volunteer restaurateurs with the support of the district from the 5th Police Station in Krakow offered people without shelter with hot high-calorie meals and hot drinks. They also distributed packed lunches.
This joint action of restaurant representatives and policemen was carried out on Saturday. The officers’ role was primarily to show volunteers places where they could offer their help.
It is the district people who know their areas perfectly, they know where homeless people gather, know these people and are in constant contact with them – emphasizes young inspector. Sebastian Gleń, spokesman for the Provincial Police Headquarters in Krakow.
The uniforms during the action also cared for the safety of those helping in buildings, which – falling into ruin – could pose a threat to people unfamiliar with these objects.
Volunteers and uniformed people also visited the needy in one of the Krakow shelters, where they also distributed prepared food.
The police ensure that the district, especially in winter, regularly check the places where homeless people gather. They also always inform these people about operating shelters, heating rooms or baths, points where you can get help or eat a warm meal.
