LOT aircraft will bypass Iran’s airspace. The company made such a decision because of an attack on a car convoy in Baghdad, which resulted in the death of Iranian general Kasem Sulejmani. Flights from Warsaw to India, Singapore, Bangkok and Sri Lanka will change their routes, however, the carrier ensures that it will not affect the regularity of flights or significantly increase duration of the flight .
Safety is a priority for LOT Polish Airlinessaid the company spokesman Michał Czernicki.
Czernicki also added that LOT monitors developments in Iran and is in constant contact with the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A similar decision as our national carrier was also made by Jordanian Royal Jordanian airlines and Bahrainian Gulf Air.
