The Municipal Investment Management Board of Łódź have completed an order for thirty modern trams. The most favorable offer was made by the Poznań company Modertrans.
The most advantageous offer was made by the Poznań company Modertrans, although the cheapest one was made by the Turkish Bozankaya. However, the Turks were excluded from the bidding. Four bidders fought for the contract for the supply of trams. The others are Stadler and Pesa.
The Municipal Investment Management Board allocated PLN 274.8 million for the purchase of rolling stock. The Modertrans offer amounts to PLN 268.5 million and is included in the rolling stock budget. This means that if other companies do not submit appeals, it will be possible to sign a contract with the contractor and the people of Poznań will produce trams for Łódź. The first of them is to be delivered by March 2022, and the last batch of rolling stock is to reach Łódź by the end of September 2022.
New trams will be air-conditioned, low-floor and monitored. The new trams will have a wider passage inside the tram, which will improve the comfort of travel. They are to have a different design and be equipped with two swivel bogies at the front and rear. This will allow them to turn even on narrow track curves, and the track itself will wear more slowly.
The Modertrans Poznań company was established on December 31, 2005. It has delivered its first trams the following year for MPK Poznań. In the following years, it continued to strengthen the rolling stock of the Poznań carrier, and also delivered trams to Gdańsk, Wrocław and Silesian Trams.
During this year’s Trako fair in Gdańsk, Modertrans Poznań won the main prize in the category “rolling stock” for the two-way tram Moderus Gamma, which was produced for MPK Poznań.
