Arrested and a fined 11,000 PLN, Polish citizen who set off a fire alarm to catch a plane from Stavanger to Szczecin.
The Pole, who was late for a flight to Szczecin and decided to activate a fire alarm at the airport in Stavanger, Norway. This was his extremely stupid way to delay the start of the plane.
The man was immediately arrested after witnesses testified that he had intentionally set off an airport fire alarm.
– The man was led out of a plane that was preparing to take off. The plane flew away without him and he was taken local police station, police in this city said on Twitter.
“People saw him trigger the fire alarm, it made us take immediate action,” said Rune Tallaksen, airport operations manager at Dagbladet newspaper.
The police added that the entire airport was evacuated and the fire brigade responded in an emergency mode, but everything was cleared up within 15 minutes and the entire incident did not cause any major delays to the air traffic.
The man was to fly the Wizzair plane to Szczecin. The incident took place around 8.40 a.m. A 40-year-old Pole admitted to triggering the alarm to delay the flight and wanted to check in. After the airport services determined that the alarm had not been triggered due to a technical malfunction, procedures for evacuating passengers from the airport were immediately taken.
Apart from spoiled holidays, the Pole must now pay a fine of 25,000 crowns, about 11,000 zlotys.
