Lime introduces fines for parking in selected places around the city of Warsaw.
Changes in the regulations are being introduced by Lime. From a public press release, the operator will automatically charge 10 PLN from the user’s account for leaving two-wheelers in several locations.
- Penalties for parking scooters on bridges and in Łazienki Park are the result of our ongoing talks with city authorities – says Paulina Mróz from Lime.
The account of those who park the rented vehicle on the bridge or in the Łazienki Królewskie Park will be charged. On the other hand, parking scooters at zebra crossing, in the middle of pavements or in other places blocking traffic will not be punished.
Repeat offenders of incorrect parking will be at risk of the lime removing their account and withdraw the user from renting a vehicle in the future under a different account.
Our application requires a photo of a scooter parked. The account may be suspended for the lack of a photo or its incorrect execution – says the representative of Lime.
Scooters should be treated like bicycles
New regulations regarding scooters appeared in the draft amendment to the Road Traffic Act published by the Ministry of Infrastructure in early August. It shows that electric scooters are to be treated like bicycles. You will be able to ride them on the sidewalks only if there is no bike path. They will have to give way to pedestrians, and their speed limit will not be able to exceed 25 km / h.
Changes in the regulations were announced by representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure at the beginning of July. Currently, there are no regulations in Polish law that apply to electric scooters, which is why their users are treated as pedestrians who should use the sidewalks.
And the lack of regulations generates problems. There have been many accidents involving electric scooters on reported in local Polish media. In mid-June a man on an electric scooter collided with a cyclist on the boulevards. They both went to the hospital.
At the beginning of June a woman riding a scooter was hit at Okopowa Street. In May, a teenager on a scooter bruised a woman walking down the sidewalk along Aleje Jerozolimskie.
In April, a similar situation was heard in Krakowskie Przedmieście. The tourist fell on the pavement and hurt her head.
