A new bridge being built to the south of Warsaw is almost ready, but they still do not know what it will be called. There were already several suggestions, but the city still invites you to present your naming ideas.
To date, such names have appeared among the proposals:
Most Paderewskiego, Bitwy Warszawskiej, Wielkiej Orkiestry Świątecznej Pomocy and Józefa Piłsudskiego
There is also a proposal that the bridge simply remains as ‘the South bridge’. These are mainly the ideas of councilors in Warsaw, but every resident of Warsaw can suggest his name. This is encouraged by, among others Beata Michalec from the naming committee at the Warsaw Council.
At the end of January, the idea of the Council of Civic Coalition Councils RD Wawer, who proposed that the emerging Southern Bridge in Warsaw should be called the WOŚP bridge. The Mayor of Warsaw commented on the idea of local government officials in the “Facts after facts” program on TVN24. – I love the work by the charity WOŚP. However I think there is this type of naming tradition were such a name are unlikely to be to be accepted – said Rafał Trzaskowski.
When will the bridge open?
The bridge over the Vistula to the Wilanów will open February 20, 2020. At that time, the contractor informed that the two parts of the bridge will be completely joined. At the moment, the northern thread of the crossing over the Vistula is complete. Probably the first cars will pass by it in September.
