Tonight, MPK tested the first of 50 new trams that will carry passengers around Krakow. The vehicle was tested on the route to Mały Płaszów.
The tram was delivered to Krakow in December 2019. Upon arrival at the tram depot, it was removed from a special transport trailer on which it was transported.
– The tests and journeys necessary to obtain approval will now begin. They will include tests of propulsion and braking systems as well as electrical systems and other elements important for the proper operation and safety of travelers. After an authorized institution has carried out the necessary tests and obtained its positive opinion, the tram will be put into service. Then trainering for mechanics will begin to prepare them for the operation of this wagon – emphasized MPK.
In the following weeks there will be training’s for drivers and mechanics. Then the tram will start taking passengers around Krakow.
By the end of 2020, a total of 50 new trams should be on the streets.
We remind you that these low-floor vehicles will be 33.4 meters long. They will be equipped with air conditioning, monitoring, LED interior lighting and a modern passenger information system.
